About this map
This map covers Phase 1 of the St Bartholomew's churchyard survey — the oldest grave area in the western section. The full churchyard contains 12+ areas and 16,000–17,000 recorded names. Further phases will be added as survey work progresses.
Finding a grave
Enter through the Lych Gate on the west side. The north boundary line runs straight east from the Lych Gate to the far corner. Use the zone descriptions below to navigate to the right area of the burial ground, then look for the grave within that section.
Zones
North-West — along church wall, Lych Gate side
North-East — along church wall, towards N-S path
South-West — south side, Lych Gate half
South-East — south side, towards gates & footpath
Buildings & Features
St Bartholomew's Church (1863)
Runs west-east along the north side. A ~22ft path separates the church from the burial ground.
Norman Church footprint c.1150
